False Ad Verification Email Scam

Important Note: The carsales network does not get directly involved in the buying or selling of vehicles, and will never ask you to make payments directly to the business through an escrow agent, broker or unsecure Western Union money transfers. If you receive emails like this which appear to be from the carsales network they are fraudulent emails and should be deleted immediately.

An email scam is being circulated to buyers who have enquired on listings which may be false or scam advertisements.

The email appears to be sent by the carsales network and advises buyers they can make payments on the vehicle directly to carsales via Western Union money transfer.

These emails often feature carsales logos and imagery, however are sent from suspicious email addresses such as carsales.network@instruction.com.

Email scams like these can include:

  1. A description or details of the false listing that was enquired on.
  2. Specific steps on how to make payments to carsales via unsecure transfer methods including Western Union money transfers.
  3. Unusual contact details, including addresses from free email service providers.
  4. False imagery such as the carsales logo or images of the website.
