Be wary of emails claiming to be from the carsales network that insist you continue with a transaction. If you an unsure of an email you have received contact us directly to confirm the details of the email.

Buyers have been targeted by an email scam claiming to be from carsales customer service advising an ad has been “falsely removed”.

An email scam is being circulated to potential buyers who have enquired on a listing that has been suspended or removed on suspicion that it may be a false advertisement. The email notifies potential buyers that the advertisement was withdrawn from display because it was believed to be false, but that after investigation the listing was found to be genuine and the buyer should continue with their transaction immediately.

Email scams like these can include:

  1. A description or details of the false listing that was suspended or removed.
  2. Broken English including grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
  3. Persistent requests to continue with the transaction.
  4. Warnings against providing details of the transaction to anyone other than via the links to customer service provided in the email.
